CR Magnetics, Inc. has developed the new CR2550 Current Indicator as an easy and low cost way to remotely monitor electrical current flow. Simply, an electrical current carrying wire is routed through the window opening of the current transformer element. A special bipolar LED is attached directly to the transformer and illuminates when the current is above 0.75 amperes AC.

The indicator light glows when current is flowing and goes off when an interruption or failure of current flow occurs. This remote visual display of the electrical diagnosis is simple and instantaneous in comparison with traditional test instruments.

The new Remote Current Indicator easily slips over current carrying wires or cables and requires no splices or electrical connections. Positioning is accomplished by use of a plastic tie or looping the wire through the center of the indicator. The indicator will accept up to one size #8 AWG wire through its center opening of .350 inch dia. Red or green LED indicators are available and a special panel mounting holder is supplied. The indicator is a self-powered, non-intrusive device housed in non-corrosive thermoplastic.

The CR Magnetics CR2550 Remote Current Indicator is a proprietary design that contains a toroidal wound current transformer attached to a high efficiency LED. The indicator is capable of operating in 50 or 60 Hz systems. It is designed to show an "open" or "shorted" wire with current loads as low as 0.75 amps AC. The wire leads are a standard 11 inches in length.
